Stones and Faith
One of the most famous stories of the Bible is that of David and Goliath It
is retold as a metaphor in every aspect of life from business to sports.
We sometimes underestimate how small David was and how big was Goliath.
David was a scrawny teenager, who watched over sheep.
Goliath was a giant of a man;
A warrior hardened and experienced from all of his battles.
Yet David went out to meet Goliath in battle against all odds.
The bookies in Las Vegas would not have even given any odds.
Everything was stacked against him.
With what could David ever hope to defeat Goliath?
David however, had two things Goliath did not have Stones and Faith.
David went down to the river bed and grabbed five stones.
Because he might have needed the other 4 to defeat Goliath’s brothers!
David then put a single stone in his sling and hurled it with all of his
And slew Goliath with one single stone.
In our personal lives, we meet Goliath all of the time.
In personal problems, health problems, financial problems, work or family
related problems; Even our sins.
Sometimes we can feel so small and our problems are so great.
When our problems become so large;
When the odds are stacked against us;
All one needs to do is in one’s mind,
Pick up a single stone and hurl it with all of our Faith.
Because a small stone and a lot of Faith and can slay any giant!
