MI Conference ‘08
On June 28th 2008, the Province of Ontario held what is hoped to be the 1st Annual MI conference. It was organized by the Ajax Village of the MI and held at the St. Augustine’s Seminary in Toronto.
Speakers for the conference were: Fr. Patrick Greenough, OFM Conv., National President of the MI in the USA and Canada, whose talk was on the “Life and Spirituality of St. Maximilian Kolbe”; and Msgr. Robert Nusca, Rector of the St. Augustine Seminary who spoke on “Total Consecration in the writings and Spirituality of Maximilian Kolbe”. Celebrant at the Mass was Fr. Henry McErlean. The MC was Catharine Bone, Youth Co-ordinator of the MI, and the “Thank You” speech was given by Richard Geofroy of the Ajax MI.
The conference provided the opportunity for members to become acquainted with the individual groups, to fraternize, to learn more about St. Max., and to share in the spirituality of the movement.
Due to space limitations and it being our first conference, we treaded cautiously and were conservative in the number of persons invited. Priority was given to MI members and then opened to interested persons.
Though small in numbers, the evaluations received from this conference showed it to be a great success, so keep your eyes and ears open to plan to attend next year’s conference.
